MagiTek is an ever evolving musical project with roots that could be described as "geeky rap synth noise". If one were to describe it by recognised genres, various songs could fall under "techno", perhaps a little "industrial", and "nerdcore". Forming right at the turn of the millenium, the group does have a notable but humble history.
In most recent times, Quartz Relic and Thugmasta J completed their third and most advanced album mid 2006. Entitled "Distorting Reality For Better Perception", it was the result of three years of chaotic development to bring the MTek sound to a new level. This was due to the many diversions and distractions Quartz and J encountered along the path (of heroes).
The title of the album depicts a theme that runs though out the hour long disc. That being distorting reality by escaping into fantasy, by indulging in creativity, and even manipulating the ideas of time and space altogether. 50% lyrical songs, 50% instrumental glimpses into the M-Tek mythos. Scattered within are samples too numerous to list. And a few collaborators, both old and new.
Electronic hip hop not for all ages, but about all ages.
